Cyber Wars

In the article Cyber War by Patricia Smith it talks about people all over the world like China, the U.S, and Iran and those being hacked or doing the hacking from computers. China is trying to steal our Government secrets. Also since we buy oil from Saudi Arabia the U.S. believes that Iran is responsible for the cyber-attack on Saudi Aramco. I think all this cyber stuff everyone is doing is very pointless because if the U.S. leaves China alone and they just stick to buying there items I think everything will be ok, and the same thing in Iran if everybody just lets everyone be the own independent country I think the world would be a better place because 9/11 is over and the U.S are still trying to kill people they think are terrorist, but probably really have no idea and it is causing people in the U.S to lose people they love because everyone wants to go to war and war leads to death. These cyber wars could lead to real wars and that would be just since less killing. Every time the U.S. does something to another country they either go to war or attempt to attack back and that’s just making a lot of enemies for nothing. A quote from the text states “There are lots of targets in the U.S. where they could do the same thing. The attacks were intended to say: “If you mess with us, you can expect retaliation.’” This quote that there is someone else thinking the same thing because if you mess with someone they are going to want to retaliate not just let it happen.

  1. You make some good points, but unfortunately countries have never been able to just leave each other alone. What keeps countries from attacking each other is often the fear of retaliation.

In this case, do you think the USA should use these cyber-techniques to prevent other countries (enemies) from getting nuclear weapons? Or do you fear cyberattack more than nuclear attack? 90
