16 year old driving

Leroy Scott
                                    Teens
In the article ‘Should 16-year-olds drive?’ by Ted Gregory the article talks about kids driving at the age of 16 and is that too young. One quote says “were still losing a lot of teens on the road each year,”
“Motor vehicle crashes kill more than 5,000 teenagers every year.”
Motor vehicle crashes do kill a lot of kids but to me if they take away their right to drive at 16 there are just going to maybe be more accidents because usually kids don’t listen and when they are teenagers they think they are adults and adults drive cars when they feel like it. Also if they’re driving and cops happen to pull them over what are the chances of the kids stopping if they know they are wrong and that especially will create accidents? Another quote says, “I don’t think it matters what age you are as long as you have the practice and experience.” I agree quote because I always wanted to drive since I was younger and I was always told you have to be 16. So that’s what I thought plus 16 are a good age to start driving you’re almost out of high school and more mature. Also if you know the book take the test and know how to drive why not have a license. To me I just think 16 is the age you can get a tattoo drive you are almost an adult and those type of things come with responsibility.

everything will be put to a stop

In the article “Curfew imposed on teens to combat crime in East St. Louis” an article written by KMOX, CBS St. Louis. This article is about children that live in EAST ST. LOUIS the talk is about kids loitering outside basically not going to school so the mayor Alvin Parks says if you’re on the street during school hours you will automatically be arrested, minors are to be off the street by ten o clock pm on weekends and weekdays, and the police will be performing I.D checks on street corners and they are doing gun searches. In the article it also says they plan to arrest men and young men who are wearing gang colors parks said “No royal blue, no bright red to be worn by our men or our boys in this community,” Parks said. He also said “Vehicles that are moving will be stopped and searched for guns, weapons, drugs, and open alcohol and any other violations that are taking place.” In my opinion I think all that you can’t wear this color or that color is dumb because if you want to wear red or blue you should be able to wear red or blue. And the other quote like vehicles will be stopped if moving and searched you cannot search any one’s car without a warrant so that will probably be put to a stop. Also I think it’s a good idea to get the kids off the street by 10 o’clock because things always happen to children after dark.

obama won and people have different opinions

Everyone had different opinions on the election of Obama for a second term there were some people who thought that that he should’ve have won, some who disagreed, and some people who didn’t care. The comments about Romney and Obama were either they were happy Obama was president again, Romney should have one he would do a better job like handling things or they didn’t think he did a good job the first time. A quote from someone interviewed about the election was “I knew Barack Obama was going to win. I think he’s more trustworthy. He seems like more of a people person.” And another quote was “I wouldn’t have voted for Romney on women’s issues alone.” I agree with the first person I had no doubt that he was going to win because Romney was taking too much away from the people it seemed to me that he was only looking out for people who had money.” I also agree with the second quote too because the things he was taking away things that would make a woman’s life harder than it usually is like abortions and tampons things girls need to process and also go on with life if they do not need a baby at the moment. I think Obama had every right to win because when he got into office things were already messed up and people were making it seem like everything that was happening was really his fault and when he became the president a lot of things were already messed up.

Climate Change by Nicholas D. Kristof

                Leroy Scott
                                                                Climate changes
Nicholas Christoff wrote an article called “Will climate change get some respect now?” in this article Christoff talks about how the climate is changing drastically everywhere like there are bad storms hurricanes, floods, and more. Like for example hurricane sandy there was a debate and nothing was said about the hurricane and that’s what really matters because the people of America are the ones being affected by this. In this quote “Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York says he told president Obama the other day it seems we have a hundred year flood every two years now” in this quote I think the governor is saying that there needs to be action taking if were having the floods way more often than usual ans someone needs to step up. People are losing homes their cars are being destroyed and no one is saying anything about it. Mainly the politicians and that’s what Christoff is talking about all these things are happening to these people and nothing is being said or done. In my opinion I think Christoff is right about everything he is saying the politicians should be talking about the hurricane and maybe how they are going to help the people who need the help get through this. If I was affected by the storm in a huge way I would feel comfortable knowing someone cares like the people who are in charge of this country but if they were not saying anything about it I would start to feel worried.
